Abstract

Paraganglioma is known as benign neoplasm that originates from paraganglia and consists of microscopic islands of cells derived from the neural crest embryologically. This tumor can occur at any part in human body where paraganglias exist. Glomus jugulare tumor is specially named to paraganglioma occurred at glomus jugulare in the middle ear. Glomus jugulare tumor is known as benign tumor with almost no bony metastasis. A 50 year-old female patient with past history of glomus jugluare tumor in middle ear which had been managed by surgical resection 2 years ago was admitted for tender hard mass on the medial aspect of the right clavicle developed 5 months ago. Incisional biopsy revealed metastatic paraganglioma with almost same pathologic features with the previous paraganglioma from the middle ear. Because of its rarity of malignant change and bony metastasis, we report this case with reviewing of the literatures.
